By Desmond Lee I purchased this product to promote RUS child with a 20% discount and gift certificates. But so far I have spent the purchase price of this unit in the filters (even cheaper on Amazon with a rebate on your list AMEX). PROS: This unit is quiet (the setting quiet mist), moisten a large space, and has an appropriate moisture level / reading, not to mention a great 4gallon tank. So yes, it does its job as intended. Cons: and this is a big hoax. Have you ever wondered why this 4-gallon humidifier is ~ 70 $ 1.2 gallon tank when the fog goes quiet for about the same price? Here's why: The filters cost about $ 10 and you know it's time to change it when you smell a dead rat every other week - you can not cop out and pretend that there is b / c no matter what the filter does not dive in water, put some really bad odor when it is "time for change" The 'you must use a humidifier to work for 4 months in winter (most likely longer), which is 8 x $ 10 = $ 80 only keep this thing. Also, if you read the description of this article, you must clean every day - sorry dudes, I have a wife and children, the job I do not need to add a humidifier in the family diet and cleansing program. Works well if the trick of N Neely I bought this as a replacement for Hamilton Beach model that I've known for years know. I learned the trick to keep it always stopped .... Let the tank runs out of water, but keep the engine running. It dries out the filter. The filter must stink if it stays constantly wet. Because we work during the day, this is not a problem. I fill the tank half full at bedtime and then ignore. By 10 am the next morning the tank will be empty and the fan will blow dry the filter before I fill the tank again the next night. If you have purchased is written by someone who only read reviews of this thing, they ignore. Of course it's all very well in the beginning ... I have used this humidifier for two seasons (a total of about 7 months and had to replace the CAP and sickle 3 times. The new CAP is just send me still leaks on the floor, making all the useless thing I give up! On top of that, when it did work, I had to change the filter every 10 days or less (not every 3 months as advertised). My friend down the street with the humidifier it have the same problem. After a week or so, begins to turn brown and smelly. This is despite the cleaning tank and the tray of almost all the time, and turning the filter each time recommended.
