I have Honeywell Humidifiers used for many years and have never had the smell / mold problem up with these filters, they are even unhealthy. I tried to appreciate them zero stars are so bad, but the system would not let me. Go back to the old filter 10 of 12 people found the following review helpful. It sucks! By M. Defrawy bought some of these new filters (10, I think) for my Honeywell 2000 series humidifiers. This "enviracaire blue cover was a new thing for me. Honeywell / ENVIRACAIRE HAC-504 Replacement Filter Pad never seen before, but thought what the hell, maybe the new technology and improve the filter performance. WRONG! My experience is just the opposite. 1) does not last forever, working just 2-4 weeks before the efficiency decreases, while the "major" filters with plastic or wire mesh easily last 3-4 months, sometimes more, depending on the application 2) With old filters, they often occur after heavy use, clean, and decalcification before continuing to use them. Only after months of hard use and lose their accumulation efffectiveness and needs to be changed. With this accumulation "Enviracaire" filters are not heavy at all, maybe something else (see # 5 below), which recently lost its effectiveness very quickly. I have a cellar and a cigar's foot, and for those of you participating in hobbies, you know how important it is to maintain proper storage conditions. So you could say, yes, I have experience in the use of humidifiers and environmental control. 4) I bought my last set of replacement filters (that) the KAZ. When I started using the filter and run into problems, I contacted Kaz to complain Well, customer service person who contacted me continued to tell me how should my humidifier is not working because the filters work well in yours! RIGHT !!!!! Do you use yours as much as the use of landmines?! I've been using humidifiers in the course (s) for three years without a problem before! MORE. . . 5) Now comes the worst, IMO. WHAT IS Filmy / things that accumulates mold?! When I started using these "Enviracaire" filter, I began to see a steaming, with mold build up in the water in my humidifier. Even after thorough cleaning of the filter housing and install a new filter at about the 2-4 week mark (when the screen starts diminidsh efficiency), is the unit vapor / rust accumulated in the chamber filter housing and water (but not in the tank.) If I use a few drops of a bacteriostatic or scaling in the reservoir or not makes no difference as never before, never seen the old filter types! This skinny thing might be causing the poor performance of filetr least that's what I suspected. So! You should buy the files? You decide. Personally, I think the producer should know about these problems and take care of them. For me, I'm trying desperately to find the old style filters that had a mask wire-like/plastic outside.
