This reduces the amount of dust and junk in the back of the device and contaminating the saturated wick used to moisten. As you know, with this unit, the cleanest and best quality unit fuse (1041), the better the unit will dampen. It is not designed to be a vacuum and sucks the air particles, but will the airborne particles to prevent contamination of the fuse unit, and for that reason I think it is worth.
